VISION

I envision a future where men across New Zealand take control of their health and well-being through workshops, online courses, and coaching. Through this, men will empower not only themselves but also their families, friends, and communities, creating a ripple effect of peer support

MISSION

My mission is to help men take control of their health and well-being by providing them with the tools and mindset shifts they need to make positive changes. Through workshops, courses, and coaching, I aim to inspire transformation that will alleviate pressure on the healthcare system by fostering a community-based approach to health, where peer support becomes the first step to well-being

VALUES

My business is grounded in the belief that personal growth is possible for everyone, and that mindsets can evolve to be more positive. I value honest, plain speaking, and fairness in all interactions, and I strive to create an environment that is kind, inspiring, engaging, funny, and understanding. I believe that when men support each other, they create powerful mental and physical growth

Iā€™m a Health, Wellness and Mental Fitness coach who specialises in helping guys that feel stuck or frustrated build their worlds better.

About thirty years ago, having finished an Honours degree in Human Physiology in Scotland, a territorial army commission under her belt, Sam just wanted to live a little before she settled into army life and work out how her medical career would evolve. It was on that OE to Australia that meeting a fella from Southland that would end up changing the trajectory of her life. After a few years selling legal drugs for a living by day, running a signals squadron at the weekend, "Kiwi and I somehow stayed together" and she made the permanent leap to Te Anau - the most beautiful place in the world, where they brought up 3 amazing girls.

Sam feels she has a reasonable understanding of the rural sector and it's issues. Her husband has been a topdressing pilot in Northern Southland for over 20 years. They brought their own business there over 10 years ago, where she is the Health and Safety Manager and no stranger to government compliance. Their company mission is to partner with people to make real gains in the land by being safe, respectful, progressive and sustainable and she understands personally, that when farmers are feeling the pain of weather, policy or social opinion and how this can negatively impact the whole of the agricultural sector.

After being involved in several different businesses over the years, Sam's passion for how the body and mind works was still alive; her calling to want to help make a real difference in people's health had never really subsided. In 2017 she spent a year studying a new area of medicine - Health and Wellness Coaching to enable positive behaviour change,  and has not looked back.

Since starting her health coaching business, Livemewell in 2018 Sam's journey has evolved to create events (Men's Muster Fiordland), groups (Building Better Blokes, Grow Us Well) and coaching that supports people to take stock of where they are at, learn tricks to manage better, and tools in communities to grow and thrive. Never afraid to get her boots dirty, she accepts that the challenge of bringing health and wellbeing to our true southern men is a significant mountain to climb, but like she says with her clients, each mountain starts with one small step!

Having an Honours Degree in Human Physiology, Sam loves to share how the body can be influenced by everything we think and do both positively and negatively. Delivering messages in a no frills, down to earth way, she helps you to understand what lights are showing up on your own dashboards. She feels that when guys get to appreciate how easily they can influence their own engines, it ignites curiosity and allows them to problem solve their own futures better. Sam believes that both men and the rural sector are severely under served in creating health and is keen to improve awareness, growth and connect guys together to create healthier outcomes for all. Sam has also started to do some research on shifting mindsets at Otago University.

Sam is passionate about the impact Health and Wellness coaches can have in creating healthy communities and was a founding Director of the Health Coaching Australia and New Zealand Association (www.hcanza.org). This was largely to help set up standards and community for the industry in order to help guarantee well trained, qualified coaches, deliver the best services to promote unique and positive behaviour changes to the people they serve. Health and wellness coaching is a lot more than just being an accountability partner. Sam was part of the original association inception, co launching the association in March 2020, where she remained on the board for over 3 years.  Now the association has reached 200 members, she has moved on to pursue more projects to directly improve the health of men and rural communities (GrowUsWell).
